Why is Shapewear so Popular?

Shapewear has been around for a long time. Once known as corsetry and in demand by larger ladies of a certain age it developed a bit of a stigma among the younger generations. But the development of lighter weight materials with more stretch-ability gave designers new opportunities, the styles they produced had more of a resemblance to regular underwear and this appealed to a wider demographic as the look of the shapewear became more stylish.

These garments are more comfortable , still giving shape but in a more feminine way. It is no longer marketed as corsetry but as shapewear often taking up whole sections of department stores and independent lingerie retailers, so you no longer buy it in secret but openly purchase a piece of shapewear and wear it with pleasure.

New fabrics and new designs are coming out each season and the demand is still growing, no longer the preserve of the big and bulky but now worn by all shapes and sizes. Suddenly Shapewear is Sexy and so are the ladies wearing it.
